An American flag and a pair of military dog tags are shown on a wooden surface with text that reads “The Veterans History Project – Preserving Stories of America’s Veterans.

Mississippian Veterans Sharing Their Stories
“Stories of SERVING BRAVELY, that we might LIVE FREELY”

The Veterans History Project at the Library of Congress makes accessible the firsthand recollections of all U.S. military veterans who have served since World War I so that future generations may hear directly from veterans even if they did not see combat.

While there are more than 182,000 veterans that currently live in Mississippi, there are just over 500 oral histories in the collection. Help MLC add to Mississippi’s collection by signing up to tell your story. Email us at VHP@mlc.lib.ms.us and provide your contact information or call 601-432-4157 to schedule a time to record your story.

A list of those interviews is available at the Library of Congress website.

If you, or someone you know wants to share their story, please complete the form below!
