Reference and Interlibrary Loan Services (ILL)
Interlibrary Loan Services
With few exceptions, materials in the Library Commission's Resource Library collection are available for direct loan to libraries. Depending upon the type of material, loan periods are either three or six weeks. Requests for renewal are honored when possible. Photocopied materials (i.e. periodical articles, copies from reference materials, etc.) are limited to thirty pages from any one source within copyright restrictions. Such copied material is provided free-of-charge and becomes the property of the requesting library.
Special extended loan of large print books are available to Mississippi libraries to enhance local services to the visually impaired.
The Commission participates as a lender in the OCLC ILL System and in the Mississippi Statewide Virtual Union Catalog and ILL System. Libraries may also submit requests via telephone, fax, mail, and e-mail (mlcref@mlc.lib.ms.us). Libraries must have a registration form on file to borrow materials. A downloadable generic ILL request form is also available for submitting mail and fax request.
