Blind and Physically Handicapped Library Services (BPHLS)
BPHLS is one of 57 network libraries of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Library of Congress.
We provide free public library service to eligible Mississippi residents unable to read conventional print due to a visual or physical disability. Our formats include digital, audio tape, braille, large print, and descriptive video. Additionally, we offer free subscriptions to selected magazines on audio cassette or in braille. Adaptive cassette players are also loaned, at no charge, to patrons actively using the library service. Books and materials are mailed to patrons and returned to BPHLS by postage-free mail.
Recorded materials are provided by the National Library Service. The NLS Catalog lists titles available. Additionally, books and magazines of local interest are also recorded digitally by volunteers and members of the Friends of Handicapped Readers.
Our holdings may be searched using our online public access catalog. Please contact us at lbph@mlc.lib.ms.us or 1-800-446-0892 (601-432-4116 locally). Information may be faxed at (601) 432-4476. Please visit or mail to BPHLS, 3881 Eastwood Drive, Jackson, MS 39211-6473.
Hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday except state holidays.
