Library Advocacy
Library Boards of Trustees
Library Boards of Trustees represent all types of libraries in Mississippi. As advocates of libraries, trustees speak for library issues not only locally, but statewide, and nationwide. The Mississippi Library Association has a Trustees section which meets annually at the association's convention. The Mississippi Library Commission encourages all appointed trustees to become members of this organization.
Development Services staff updated the Mississippi Trustee Handbook in 1998 to assist Library Boards of Trustees. Copies of this publication were sent to public library trustees throughout the state. To further strengthen Mississippi's trustee advocates, the Development Services staff can present Trustee Workshops upon request.
