Reference / Circulation
Members of the general public who are Mississippi residents access library services primarily through the State's network of libraries. The Commission's library is open to the general public, although the collection is not specifically targeted to the public. Anyone aged 17 and older may visit the library and use the available resources. Children and youth age 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Reference staff are available to assist with information research and provide brief, factual responses to specific information requests. Requests from the general public may be submitted via telephone, fax, mail, e-mail, or in person.
Residents age 17 and older who are in good standing with their local public library are eligible to register for a Mississippi Library Commission library card. Applications from members of the general public must be returned in person and the individual must show a valid Mississippi public library card and another form of photo identification. Once issued, the Mississippi Library Commission library card enables users in good standing to check out circulating materials from the Commission's Primary Resource Library in person. Materials borrowed in person must be returned directly to the Commission.
